2. Guardian blog: Let's not reduce the Booker to a popularity contest
3. Found in the wild: one copy of The Sleepers Almanac No.4 unread in the short stories section of Carlton Secondhand Books on Swanston Street near Melbourne Uni, for $8. Coming as it does with its bookmark, chances are it's a review copy freebie which we don't send out many of so I wonder whose it could have been.

Hi Lou,
I hope you rescued The Almanac from the wild and returned it to captivity...surely they realised that $8 was a ludicrous price for such a piece of art/literature? Annie.
Hi Annie, I had this strange and stupid wish to buy it for an instant before I came to my senses! Weren't you coming to the last bunch of Salons? I forgot to tell you I thought of another palindromic name: Otto.
Oooh, I do like Otto.Yes, I was coming to the salons, but I was waylaid by mischievous chemicals in my brain and hospitalised for two weeks...All is on track for MWF though...I'm still overwhelmed by the choice and haven't booked yet - normally I do this within two hours of the program coming out! Annie
ooh, sorry to hear it. but yes, mwf is soon already - it seems to come along faster and faster..
